About Us
The Gwinnett County Regional Science & Engineering Fair is an annual tradition that has been in place for over 30 years. Once again, the junior and senior level fairs will take place on the same day. Gwinnett County recognizes the urgent need for our country to produce science-literate citizens and skilled, knowledgeable engineers and researchers to meet the demands of our high-tech industries. We've seen firsthand how successful students can be when challenged to inquire, design and investigate scientific and engineering concepts through experimentation. Participation in science fairs helps students to improve their problem-solving and communication skills while inspiring them to consider careers in science and engineering.
The 2013 Fair will be the fifth year where the event will aim to highlight career opportunities that await our students in the fields of science and engineering. It is our goal to utilize this venue to expose participating students to a broad spectrum of post-secondary opportunities in research and industry and identify for them avenues that can lead them to an exciting position in the field of science.
Our theme – “Motivating the Next Generation of Science and Engineering Leaders- from Classroom to Career” gives students an opportunity to exhibit their work and discuss their discoveries with volunteer judges who are experts in their field; and compete for a variety of special awards and prizes. Students who are awarded 1st place in their local school science fair are eligible to participate. First place winners at the Regional Fair will advance and be eligible to participate in the Georgia State Science & Engineering Fair. In addition, three select projects will directly advance to the prestigious Intel® International Science Fair in Phoenix, AZ.
